OpenClaw for business

OpenClaw is an open-source, local-first agent you can message from chat apps and run on your own machine or server. It is the strongest option when the data has to stay yours.

What OpenClaw is

OpenClaw is an open-source agent framework that lives in the chat apps you already use, remembers context, and executes tasks on infrastructure you control. It can read and write files, run shell commands, control a browser, and extend itself with skills and plugins. It is MIT licensed and built for self-hosting.

Why a business uses it

The reason is control. Because it runs locally, your data can stay on your own infrastructure instead of a provider cloud. You choose the model, including a local one. And because it is open source, there is no black box between you and the workflow.

Where it needs care

An agent with file, shell, and browser access is powerful and risky in the same sentence. Out of the box, it will do what it is told, which is exactly why the access has to be scoped and the risky actions have to sit behind a person. This is the part most setups get wrong.

  • Limit the folders and systems it can reach.
  • Run it in a sandbox for anything experimental.
  • Require approval for anything that sends, spends, or deletes.
  • Keep a record of what it did and why.

How I deploy it

I host it on your infrastructure, connect it to the systems it needs, and set the boundaries before it touches real work. You get the setup, the approval rules, reusable skills for the tasks you repeat, and a walkthrough so your team can operate it. If a managed agent fits better, I will say so.
